The Blues have endured another disappointing campaign this year.
The Blues are currently 11th in the Premier League table in another season that has seen them perform far below expectations.
This week in particular was a dark one as they headed to Anfield for the Merseyside derby but were hammered 4-0 by Liverpool in a humiliating defeat.
The blame has been firmly put on the shoulders of manager Roberto Martinez, who is under increasing pressure at Goodison Park as a result.
Wilkins, though, has hit out at that saying that the players should be criticised in equal measure.
“I’ve heard it aimed at him that he’s lost the dressing room,” he told Fletch and Sav.
“So those guys can’t go out there and play for Everton against their biggest rival Liverpool and put on a show? The players can’t put on a show for their supporters.
“Its not always down to the manager, it’s easier to sack the one than the 25 and we’ve seen that a number of times.”
There is no denying that the Everton players should also be criticised for how things have gone this season.
However, across the season the Blues have looked like they lack any Plan B, with Martinez’s preferred style having been found out on more than one occasion.
Indeed the loss to Liverpool was a clear demonstration of that as they failed to change things up to try to get back into the game, and for that the Catalan is firmly to blame.
