Martin Keown has told BBC programme Match of the Day, which was broadcast on 24th April, that Tottenham Hotspur players might question exactly where Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has been this season, after hearing his controversial comments about the title race.
Hazard said yesterday that he wanted Leicester to win the Premier League title, even though Chelsea still have to play against both the Foxes and Spurs before the end of the campaign.
The Belgian international is the second Chelsea player to suggest that they would rather see Leicester win the title, after Cesc Fabregas made similar comments last week.
And Keown believes that Tottenham’s players are likely to be asking questions about Hazard’s form all season.
“The Tottenham players are probably listening to that right now and it’s goading them a little bit, but they might say: ‘Where has Eden Hazard been all season,” the former Arsenal defender said.
Hazard has endured a highly disappointing campaign, but he did score for Chelsea in their last 4-1 victory over Bournemouth.
The Blues are now due to meet Spurs next weekend, after Mauricio Pohchettino’s side take on West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane tomorrow.
If Chelsea can win that match, it would surely put an end to any hopes that Spurs still have of lifting the Premier League title.
Leicester are currently eight points clear of the Lilywhites, with time running out for Pochettino’s side to make up the ground.
