After Mark Hughes, Savage suggests yet another Premier League manager for Everton

Robbie Savage suggests former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, now at Newcastle United, for the Everton managerial job.

Former Leicester City and Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage said on the BBC 606 5 live show on Saturday evening (April 23) that Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez would be a good managerial appointment for Everton.

Last weekend, Savage said on the same show that Stoke City manager Mark Hughes would be good for the Merseyside outfit (click here to read more).

“I think Roberto Martinez might not be the manager of Everton at the start of next season,” said the former Wales international on the BBC 606 5 live show on Saturday evening (April 23). “If that’s the case, Rafa Benitez, I believe, would be perfect for Everton.”

Benitez was appointed the Newcastle manager in March following the dismissal of Steve McClaren.

The Spaniard has been entrusted with the task of keeping the Magpies in the Premier League next season.

Although recent results and performances have been encouraging, there is a very good chance that the Magpies would get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

If Newcastle do go down, then it is hard to see Benitez being in charge of the team in the second tier of English football.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has come under pressure this season, but would the Merseyside club’s fans be happy with Benitez?

After all, the former Real Madrid coach is an ex-Liverpool manager and is still very popular among the Reds’ fans.

Moreover, would Benitez be willing to take charge of Everton given that it is not going to go down well with the Liverpool supporters?
