The Magpies have suffered a poor campaign thus far, spending long period in the bottom three and giving themselves a mountain to climb following their 3-2 defeat at Norwich City two weeks ago.
However, since their defeat at Carrow Road, the Tyneside club beat Swansea City, drew 1-1 with Manchester City and this weekend came from two goals behind to draw 2-2 with a buoyant Liverpool side.
The Magpies undoubtedly have quality in their ranks, and Reds boss Klopp told reporters after the game how nobody can quite understand why they find themselves in the bottom three with three games to go.
"Nobody understands why they [Newcastle] are in the relegation zone,” Klopp commented to the BBC.
Newcastle have often vastly under-performed this season, yet against Liverpool they have showed their true potential after taking four points off the Merseyside club.
The draw leaves Newcastle just one point behind Norwich City and safety, though the Canaries and North East rivals Sunderland have the opportunity to pull clear with their games in hand.
Up next for Rafa Benitez’s men is a home encounter with Crystal Palace, a game they simply must win.
