The former Liverpool defender believes that Eriksen’s contribution to Tottenham’s quest for the Premier League title should not be overlooked.
“We have been quick to praise Alli, who might win the PFA Young Player of the Year award tomorrow, 12 months after Kane took it, and I have also highlighted how good Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have been,” Carragher wrote in The Daily Mail. “They are the best central defensive partnership in the division.
“Erik Lamela’s improvement has also caught the eye, but Eriksen’s worth to Tottenham is huge. He isn’t someone who commands headlines like some of his team-mates but they would be the first to appreciate what he does, as was the case at Stoke.”
Eriksen is one of the best and most creative attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
The Denmark international has been in superb form this season, and it is great of Carragher to acknowledge the 24-year-old’s contribution to Tottenham.
The former Ajax star has scored six goals and created 104 chances in 31 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this season.
Eriksen has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 58%, and has won 14 headers, 32 dribbles and 35 tackles.
Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 68 points from 34 matches, five points behind leaders Leicester City.
The North London outfit will return to action on Monday evening when they take on West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane in the league.
