Bale joined Spanish giants Madrid in the summer of 2013 and has a contract until June 2019.
Former Tottenham star Hoddle has asked why Bale would want to leave Madrid and move to United in the summer transfer window.
“No disrespect, but why would he want to join United?” the former Chelsea midfielder wrote in The Daily Mail about Bale. “Real Madrid have had a topsy-turvy season but now they stand on the cusp of a Champions League final and are still in with a chance of winning La Liga.
“Manchester United are a long way off being Champions League contenders even if they manage to qualify. It is time to accept that Bale has found a higher level.”
Bale’s time at Madrid has been fruitful so far, as he has already won the Champions League and could clinch it again this season.
The Welshman has had injury problems, but when fit, he is a very important player for the world’s biggest club.
Leaving Madrid even for United would be a step down for Bale, who can certainly win more trophies with the Spanish club than he would with the Premier League outfit.
Perhaps after two or three more years in Spain, Bale could be tempted to return to England and play for United, but for now, he is better off at the Santiago Bernabeu.
