Confirmed Aston Villa v Southampton lineups: Richards starts, Grealish on the bench

Here is how Aston Villa and Southampton will line up this afternoon...

Aston Villa may already be down, but they will hope to salvage some respect in front of the home crowd this afternoon.

Relegation to the Championship was confirmed when Villa lost to Manchester United last week, and interim boss Eric Black will be hoping to pick up at least one win before the end of a dismal campaign.

Today, Black has handed a start to Micah Richards, who has been out of the side in recent weeks after some struggles.

Jordan Ayew and Scott Sinclair will provide the goal threat, whilst the likes of Rudy Gestede, Carles Gil and Jack Grealish have been left on the bench for this afternoon's clash.

Southampton are still hoping for Europa League qualification, and will need a win today to keep that dream alive.

Today, manager Ronald Koeman has handed a start to Jay Rodriguez, who has had an injury-hit two-year spell with the Saints.

Rodriguez is joined in the line-up by former Villa midfielder Steven Davis, but Koeman has surprisingly dropped Graziano Pelle to the bench, with Shane Long starting the game up front.

Pelle is joined on the bench by the likes of Cuco Martina, Jordy Clasie and Sadio Mane in a strong Southampton squad.
