Stiliyan Petrov has told The Scottish Sun that Celtic should appoint Henrik Larsson as their next manager.
Former Celtic midfielder Petrov believes that the Bhoys should look at club legend Larsson as Deila’s successor.
The former Bulgaria international has also expressed his happiness at the fact that Deila will leave the Hoops in the summer.
“I hope Henrik is the man,” Petrov told The Scottish Sun. “I would love to see him in charge of Celtic and I think everyone would feel that way.
“It would be a good challenge for Henrik and an honour for him too. You never know if you’re ready for something until you try it, but I definitely feel it’s time for Henrik.
“They have made a decision and I am happy with that,” said the former Aston Villa star regarding Deila’s impending exit. “The board were seeing that things were not right and they reacted quite quickly to do something about it.”
Larsson is one of the greatest players in Celtic history and is very popular among the fans.
The former Sweden striker is in charge of Helsingborgs IF at the moment, and his appointment at Celtic would go down well among the supporters.
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 76 points from 33 matches, eight points clear of second-placed Aberdeen.
The Bhoys will take on Ross County at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
