Pundit is worried about Sheffield Wednesday's recent form.
Paul Merson says he is worried Sheffield Wednesday's poor recent form will derail their chances of promotion.
The former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder was responding to a question from a fan about the Owls on the SkySports Fantasy Football Club podcast.
Asked if they will win promotion to the Premier League, Merson said: "If you had said this to me four weeks ago I'd have said they would, but they've had some dodgy results.
"They got well beat at Bristol City, and struggled the other day, couldn't beat MK Dons at home so I think they are going through a dodgy patch at the wrong time."
This weekend the Owls have a huge fixture away to Derby County. Wednesday are in sixth position and Derby in fifth, with six points separating the two teams.
Wednesday still have a six point gap over seventh placed Cardiff City, but if they lose to Derby then they will not be leaving themselves much room for error.
After winning four games in a row, Carlos Carvalhal's side have gained just two points from a possible nine over their last three games.
Opponents Derby have by contrast won their last four games in a row and five of their last six.
