The Gunners are now fighting to secure a top four place this season.
The Gunners were easy winners at the Emirates as two goals from Alexis Sanchez saw them to a 2-0 triumph over Tony Pulis’ side.
The result took them back into third in the table and two points clear of Manchester City, but more importantly four ahead of Manchester United in fifth.
It gives their hopes of securing a top four finish something of a boost as the campaign draws to a close, but Redknapp has criticised them for allowing the situation to develop as it has.
“It’s just papering over the cracks really [the win],” he told Sky Sports.
“It doesn’t tell us anything. Arsenal shouldn’t be in a position where they’re scrambling around to get into the top four.
“It still isn’t good enough and I’m sure the fans are not happy. For some Arsenal fans, they’ll be thinking it’s the same old story finishing in the top four.”
The current situation is certainly a disappointing one for Arsenal given how they were serious contenders for the title at one points this season.
The pressure is now firmly on Arsene Wenger as a result, with large sections of the fan base now calling for him to end his long reign at the club.
That seems unlikely to happen though, and they must now hope that the club will invest heavily in the summer to turn themselves into contenders next season instead.
