Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Lambert has been linked with the vacant Celtic position.
Celtic boss Ronny Deila announced this week he would be stepping down at the end of the season, issuing a statement via the club website, days after losing to Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The Mirror report Celtic's board are considering Lambert as a potential successor, amongst other names like David Moyes and Brendan Rodgers.
Lambert unlike those two is already in a job, appointed by Blackburn earlier this season, although The Mail reported earlier this month the Scotsman was frustrated with behind the scenes goings on at the Championship side.
He is much admired at Celtic, making more than 250 appearances for the club as a player.
Lambert's managerial star burned brightly after guiding Norwich City from League One to the Premier League and keeping them there, but then decided to leave for Aston Villa.
His spell at Villa proved overall very poor and he was sacked last year, although they have been far worse without him, relegated to the Championship.
At Blackburn he has had to cope with selling star player Jordan Rhodes on deadline day, and the club sit 17th in the table of 24 teams, clear of relegation.
Rovers fans have had a mixed reaction to rumours of his exit, here is a look at what they had to say via Twitter...
Personally don't think Lambert will be a big enough name for Celtic. Think they will go for Moyes.— Ewood Calling (@EwoodCalling) April 20, 2016
#rovers set for more Lambert to Celtic links until they appoint somebody. Given quality of football I'm not that arsed.— Steve (@S_t_e_B) April 20, 2016

Why would Celtic look at Paul Lambert & think "he's the man to take us to the next level"?#Rovers form wouldn't get him a job..
Paul Lambert at 16's to become next Celtic Manager. Good odds as he is unsure of future at Rovers, wants investment, but met with silence— Andrew Berry (@Andrew__Berry) April 20, 2016
Paul Lambert is defo going to leave Rovers for Celtic, not that I'd blame him mind. I dread to think who Venky's would line up next— nik marsdin (@NaplesOfLeNorth) April 20, 2016
