Manchester City have struggled defensively all season, and incoming manager Pep Guardiola will surely be keen to address those issues.
Herman Hummels spoke about the Etihad being an attractive proposition for his son.
He said: "Manchester City could be a very interesting option. They've not done so well this year, but they are going to win the league next year. They are getting the best coach in the world."
With Vincent Kompany's injury record less than impressive, and Eliaquim Mangala looking completely out of his depth in the Premier League, the signing of a world-class centre-back will surely be a high priority for Pep Guardiola when he arrives at the Etihad in the summer.
Hummels has appeared in 27 of Dortmund's 30 Bundesliga games this season, and has helped his team secure second place in the league, while they still have an outside chance of catching Bayern Munich at the top.
Bayern are another club who have been linked with Hummels' signature, and it wouldn't be the first time they have poached a star player from their rivals.
Will Hummels follow Robert Lewandowski and Mario Götze to the Bavarian giants, or will Guardiola's arrival in Manchester tempt the German in making the move to the Premier League?
One thing is for sure, the side who ends up winning the race for Hummels' signature will be a much stronger team for it.
