Talk is rife about who could potentially replace Arsene Wenger should he leave the club.
The long-serving manager has once again found himself on the end of criticism at the Gunners after another season of disappointment.
It has been especially strong during this campaign, with his side having fallen away in the title race despite being top of the table at the beginning of 2016.
Many believe it is now time for Wenger to leave the club and allow a new man to come in and turn the Gunners into serious title contenders once again.
Who could replace him though is the major question; with most of the top-level managers they would unavailable.
Smith though, believes Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone could be an idea replacement.
“I maintain you could get a better performance out of that group than Arsene Wenger has managed to get,” he told Sky Sports.
"For instance, Diego Simeone is a complete contrast; black and white really. They would be harder to beat with him at the helm. That's probably a fair comment because of the steel he would bring to it.”
In contrast, Redknapp believes that bringing in another manager who could follow Wenger’s chosen style should be the route the Gunners go down.
His choice is something of a surprising one as well, as he names current Germany boss Joachim Loew as someone who could be ideal for them to move for should Wenger leave.
"You look at the managers available at the moment and there aren't too many that would fit the bill for this brilliant football club,” he added.
"Maybe Joachim Loew, the Germany manager, might fit the philosophy and style of play, but after that it's very difficult.”
