Toumani Diagouraga shares the message Steve Evans gave Leeds United's players at half-time against Wolves

Leeds United East Stand

Leeds United beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 in their last match.

Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Steve Evans urged the side to press higher in the second half of their match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Leeds beat Wolves 2-1 in their latest outing, and their performance in the second half was highly encouraging.

However, the Whites had been slightly lacklustre in the first 45 minutes and Evans was not happy with his side’s initial showing.

“In the second half we got into them and we did really well,” Diagouraga said.

“I think in the first half we didn’t play as well as we could have done but in the second half we went out there and went after them and we were pleased to get the win.

“We were told at half-time to go and press them higher and to make something out of the game because in the first half we weren’t really at it. We got into them and got the win.”

Leeds went into the break with the scoreline at 0-0, but they turned the screw in the second period.

The Whites scored their opener through Sol Bamba, before Diagouraga added a second.

Wolves did pull one back when George Saville hit the back of the net, but Leeds held on to claim a deserved three points.

The win was Leeds’ sixth in their last 10 matches, with Evans’ side finishing the season strongly.

Leeds are next in action against promotion chasing Hull City on Saturday.
