Slaven Bilic has said that Dimitri Payet was ‘on-fire’ for West Ham United in their match against Watford last night.
West Ham beat Watford 3-1 yesterday, and Payet was at the heart of everything good that Bilic’s side did once again.
The French attacking midfielder has enjoyed a wonderful maiden campaign in English football, and the praise just continues to come in for the former Marseille man.
Payet set up Andy Carroll’s opener, and also delivered eight crosses throughout the contest, as he tormented Watford’s defence.
Payet’s brilliant form is no longer a surprise, and Bilic revealed that he spoke to the 29-year-old about the high expectations on him before the match.
BILIC: "Dimi was on fire. We had a little chat before the game because it's not easy for him because everyone expects so much from him."— West Ham United FC (@whufc_official) April 20, 2016
West Ham’s win over Watford has extended their unbeaten record at Upton Park to 15 games and kept their hopes of breaking into the top four alive.
Bilic’s side are currently four points behind Arsenal, who occupy the last spot in the Champions League qualification places.
West Ham are next in action in two weekend’s time, when they take on West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
