The Black Cats youngster has agreed a new three-year deal at the club.
The 20-year-old put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the Black Cats on Thursday, extending his stay at the club until 2019.
The striker will have been at the club for seven years by that point, having originally joined academy back in June 2012.
And he was clearly pleased to be extending his stay in the North East, as he posted his delight to be staying at the ‘amazing’ club on Twitter.
Gooch will now be hoping there are further first team opportunities for him down the line after agreeing his new deal.
The forward is among the highest rated in the club’s academy and has already shown his quality this season.
He managed three goals and an assist for the Under 21’s in their first three games, earning himself the Player of the Month award for August.
He was also named as part of the senior squad, making his debut in the cup win over Exeter City, and will be keen to push towards becoming a regular for the senior side in future.
