Photos: Arsenal, including Jack Wilshere, in training ahead of West Brom tie practicing set-piece defending

Jack Wilshere Press Conference - 18/02/2014

The England international is stepping up his recovery from injury.

Arsenal take on West Bromwich Albion this evening in the Premier League and have been hard in training this week.

One player whose presence will be exciting for both Arsenal and England fans was Jack Wilshere.

He has not played since scoring twice for England against Slovenia in June last year. His last Arsenal game was the FA Cup final against Aston Villa.

Wilshere suffered a leg fracture in preseason and has not featured yet this term. He has been playing for the under-21s but is now looking to step up his comeback by training regularly with the first-team at Arsenal’s Melwood training ground.

The West Brom game this evening looks likely to come too soon for the England international.

However, Wilshere, whose career has been blighted by a series of injuries, could be back for the game with Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.

Also clear from Arsenal training was the team's work on set-pieces. Clearly concerned about the physical presence of Tony Pulis’ Baggies and Sunderland under Sam Allardyce at the weekend, Arsenal were working hard on their defending of an aerial ball.

Hopefully they have got prepared for the darker arts of the game.
