Luther Blissett explains why Newcastle United have the toughest relegation run-in and why Sunderland will stay up

The Watford legend believes Newcastle and Norwich will go down and Sunderland will stay up

The Premier League survival race appears to boiled down to just three teams fighting to avoid the two remaining relegation places.

Norwich City, Sunderland and Newcastle United are all fighting for survival and at the weekend there was another change in the running. Newcastle turned over Swansea City whilst Sunderland defeated Norwich comfortably at Carrow Road.

Now the question is who can get the most amount of points from their remaining fixtures.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ today (21/04/16) former Watford hero Luther Blissett believes his old club could play a big role in the relegation battle and that Newcastle have the toughest running:

“I think it’s got to be Newcastle. Facing Tottenham at that stage of the season, which for Tottenham could be the pivotal one that wins them the Championship.

“That’s a massive game and that’s the reason why I fear for Norwich as well dropping in there.

“Sunderland are playing Watford last game of the season. If Watford get to the cup final, then there is only one way that’s going to go.”

He is clearly backing Sunderland to stay in the Premier League.

Norwich have to play Arsenal and Everton away and Manchester United and Watford at home in their remaining four games.

Sunderland meanwhile have Arsenal next Sunday before facing Stoke and Watford away and Chelsea and Everton at home – so not easy either.

Newcastle face Liverpool and Aston Villa on their travels whilst Crystal Palace and Tottenham will head to St James’ Park.

Looking at the run-in it is hard to suggest any of the relegation threatened trio have an easier battle ahead than any of the others.

But facing a potentially title-fighting Tottenham on the final day? Newcastle could do without that.
