The Everton manager was frank about his side's performance in the 4-0 loss.
The Blues were on the end of a humiliating derby defeat on Wednesday evening as Jurgen Klopp’s side ran riot in a 4-0 victory at Anfield.
Martinez was clearly deflated after the game, as he admitted that the game was both a disaster and horrible in his post match comments.
It was a surprising change of tact from the Spaniard, as he is usually a man who focuses on the positives, and Carragher has praised him for his honesty.
“The thing about Roberto Martinez, I think that interview was one of the best he’s done,” he told Sky Sports.
“A lot of the frustration comes from his interviews because he’s so positive and upbeat. There was no way he could be that.”
“But at least he said exactly how he felt. I think that was probably the best thing of Everton, Robert Martinez’s interview. He hit the nail on the head.”
After such a disappointing result, the second 4-0 loss Martinez has suffered in a Merseyside derby, the Spaniard is surely on the brink at Goodison Park.
The vast majority of the Everton faithful are now in favour of his sacking following a second successive disappointing campaign from the club.
Much is likely to rest on the FA Cup semi final against Manchester United with a defeat at the hand of Louis van Gaal’s side only like to increase the pressure currently on him.
