James Perch believes Queens Park Rangers can emulate Brighton

Queens Park Rangers have failed to live up to expectations this season.

James Perch has told the Kilburn Times that he believes Queens Park Rangers can emulate Brighton & Hove Albion’s success next term.

Brighton have been the Championship’s surprise package this season, and they remain in with a chance of claiming an automatic promotion spot with just three games remaining.

The distance between QPR and Brighton was highlighted in midweek, when Chris Hughton’s men ran out 4-0 winners over the London club.

But Perch believes that the future is bright at Loftus Road, and he has suggested that Rangers will be in the thick of a promotion battle next campaign.

“Credit to Brighton, they’ve kicked on and they’re very effective at what they do,” the former Newcastle United defender said.

“There’s no reason why we can’t do the same next year. We just need to stick together and believe in what we’re doing here, as I think we’re heading in the right direction.

“The Championship is a very tough league, it’s demanding on the players and you have to be really consistent.

“The teams up there have that grit and determination which gets them over the line and ultimately earn them promotion.”

QPR have badly underperformed this season, and they currently occupy a mid-table spot in the Championship.

Rangers went into the season as one of the favourites for promotion, but they have never really threatened to break into the play offs.

Preparations are now starting for next season, where Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be looking to take the London side forward.

Hasselbaink has already suggested that big changes will be made at Loftus Road, as he builds a squad capable of competing for promotion.

Rangers’ next match comes against Reading on Saturday at Loftus Road.
