Barry Bannan reacts on Twitter to Julian Speroni's comeback performance for Crystal Palace

Julian Speroni started for Crystal Palace against Manchester United last night, and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan was delighted.

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has expressed his delighted that Julian Speroni was back in goal for Crystal Palace yesterday on Twitter.

Speroni was handed his first appearance for Palace in nearly a year against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Argentine stopper put in an excellent display against the Red Devils, although he was still not able to stop Alan Pardew’s side from slipping to a 2-0 defeat.

Damien Delaney’s own goal put United in the lead, and from that moment on they never really looked threatened by the Eagles.

Louis van Gaal’s side largely dominated the match, with Matteo Darmian completing the triumph.

The match was still a special occasion for Speroni, though, and he is now closing in on the all time appearance record for a Palace goalkeeper.

Speroni is currently two appearances behind John Jackson’s record, and Alan Pardew has already stated that he wants to help the Argentine keeper break it before the end of the season.
