Report discloses Rangers' summer transfer budget as Mark Warburton targets new signings

Rangers are reportedly ready to splash the cash this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Rangers board have pledged to spend £5m on new signings this summer, handing Mark Warburton a huge transfer kitty.

The Gers sealed the Scottish Championship title and subsequent promotion to the Premiership earlier this month, whilst manager Warburton also secured the Petrofac Training Cup with a 4-0 win over Peterhead

Spirits were already high at Ibrox thanks to Warburton's management, but Rangers fans truly believe something special is happening now that they have beaten Celtic, with the Gers winning on penalties against their fierce Old Firm rivals on Sunday afternoon.

Whilst the attention will turn to the Scottish Cup final against Hibernian, Rangers fans are already dreaming of a push for the Scottish Premiership title next season - but new signings will be needed this summer if that is to be a realistic target for the club.

Now, a report from the Daily Mail claims that Rangers have set their transfer budget for this summer - and manager Warburton will have £5m to spend.

That's a huge amount of money for Warburton to spend, and with at least four or five signings wanted by the Gers boss, he should be able to bring in quality players to aid his push for the title, given that £5m is around five times as much as he's spent in his first year at Ibrox.

It's suggested that Barnsley midfielder Conor Hourihane is an immediate target, and he may be just one of a host of targets for Rangers with so much money to spend on new signings.
