Report: Adama Traore set for wage increase despite relegation

The Aston Villa youngster is reportedly set to earn a third more.

Adama Traore's wages at Aston Villa are set to increase from £40,000 a week to £60,000 despite the club's relegation, according to the Daily Mail.

Indeed, the Villa youngster will be on higher wages in the Championship thanks to a clause in his contract that means his yearly salary increases.

The Mail report that there is no relegation clause in Traore's deal, suggesting how badly Aston Villa handled yet another misfiring round of negotiations.

Perhaps Traore's increased wage will mean he is used a lot more prominently in the Championship.

Another man who could boost the Villa squad in the second tier is Jordan Amavi, one of the club's best players this season until he got injured.

There is also Gary Gardner, of course, who is used to the Championship after loan spells at Nottingham Forest.

Aside from that, however, Aston Villa fans certainly won't be excited about the prospect of watching the same flops again next campaign. Hopefully, Villa's summer clearout is big enough...
