Payet gives his opinion on West Ham United supporter's chant about him

Dimitri Payet has scored 12 times in his first season at West Ham United.

Dimitri Payet has told West Ham United’s official site that he is a fan of the chant that the supporters at Upton Park have created for him.

Payet’s name has been sung on regular occasions at West Ham’s home ground this season, such has been the standard of his performances.

The attacking midfielder has looked a class above throughout the campaign, and West Ham fans have quickly taken him to their hearts.

“I have worked very hard and now I am reaping the rewards and enjoying my time here,” he said. “I am making the most of every moment here as things are going well.

“The fans here are great, there are lots of things being created for me. Some t-shirts with the song they sing about me which is really nice. It’s touching to have been welcomed so nicely and the love the fans give me is absolutely incredible.”

Payet’s flair has made him a real fans’ favourite, but he has provided cutting edge to go with the style.

The 29-year-old has netted 12 times and claimed 11 assists in all competitions already this term.

Payet’s impressive form has helped West Ham mount a highly encouraging campaign, before their move to the Olympic Stadium.

The Hammers are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table, and they also managed to get to the quarter-final of the FA Cup before being knocked out by Manchester United.

West Ham could yet make it into the Champions League qualification places, but is likely that they will have to win all of their remaining fixtures to break into the top four.
