Three Magpies reacted on Twitter to the 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City.

Newcastle United held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw last night as Rafael Benitez's side picked up a potentially priceless point in their fight against relegation from the Premier League.

The Magpies, who picked up their first win under the Spaniard last weekend by smashing Swanea City 3-0, also had to come from behind in order to do so after Sergio Aguero's 14th-minute goal.

The Argentine's opener was, however, shrouded in controversy, with replays showing the striker to be in an offside position when he headed past goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

But United showed a resilience which perhaps eluded them in Steve McClaren's ill-fated reign as Vurnon Anita restored parity shortly after the half-hour mark to keep Newcastle very much in the hunt for survival.

Jamal Lascelles, Andros Townsend and injured goalkeeper Rob Elliot reacted on Twitter afterwards, with the latter particularly frustrated given the controversial nature of Aguero's header.

Newcastle, who face a tricky trip to Liverpool this weekend, stay 19th in the Premier League table, but only two points separate them from 17th-placed Norwich City with four games to go.
