Multiple reports suggest Tottenham Hotspur have agreed Bosman deal with Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topal

Reports in Turkey suggest Topal has agreed to join Spurs.

Reports in Turkey are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal for Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topal.

Plenty of Turkish sources are reporting the news, including Karar, that Spurs have already agreed a pre-contract agreement with the midfielder ahead of a summer move.

The versatile midfielder is out of contract in the summer and would be arriving in London on a free transfer.

Topal, who has played for Fenerbahce since 2012, is keen on living in London and Spurs are set to give him that opportunity.

At 30-years-old the 56-caps Turkish international would be a different direction from Mauricio Pochettino. Topal, who has previously played for Valencia and Galatasaray, would bring strength and control in the heart of midfield and can also fill in at centre-back.

Tottenham currently have plenty of midfield options but in holding midfield only Eric Dier stands out. Nabil Bentaleb’s injury problems have seen him become something of a forgotten man whilst Tom Carroll’s position at the club is in doubt.

Topal would be a bargain arrival and add some much needed versatility to the Spurs team ahead of a busy season in the Premier League and Europe next term.
