Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Juan Mata's performance

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United eased to a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace to keep up their pursuit of the Champions League places.

The Red Devils moved to within one point of fourth placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand at home to West Bromwich Albion to be played on Thursday evening.

Ahead of the game United boss Louis van Gaal criticised his players, comparing them to Tottenham, insisting they lacked the creativity of the team which beat them 3-0 earlier this month, reported ESPN.

That was perceived as a slight on a few individuals in the team, particularly Spaniard Juan Mata, who cost the club £37.5 million in 2014, but was not signed by Van Gaal.

Mata was selected in United's starting XI against Palace, playing all 90 minutes in the 2-0 win.

He has made 34 Premier League appearances this season, with five goals and four assists to his name. For a player of his calibre, double figures in terms of assists may be expected, considering he scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists for Chelsea in 2012/13.

Against Palace, Mata created just one goalscoring chance, despite touching the ball 99 times and completing 95 per cent of his passes.

Did he do enough? Here is a look at how United fans reacted on Twitter to his performance...
