Newcastle United picked up a valuable draw against Manchester City on Tuesday night, securing a point in their battle against relegation.
After Saturday's 3-0 win over Swansea City, Newcastle were in high spirits ahead of the visit of Champions League semi-finalists Manchester City, but Sergio Aguero's early goal put the Magpies behind.
Rafael Benitez's men did snatch a point though, as full back Vurnon Anita was the unlikely hero, cutting in from the right hand side and placing the ball into the net.
Newcastle pushed for the win but had to settle for a point, meaning they are now just two points from safety, with Benitez clearly having a major impact on the squad.
During and after the game, a host of former Newcastle players took to Twitter to discuss some of the key talking points from the game, with Jermaine Jenas commenting on a 'brilliant' performance from Newcastle.
Jenas also praised the 'immense' Jamaal Lascelles, with the young defender again performing far beyond his years with a mature performance against world-class striker Aguero.
Finally, cult hero Faustino Asprilla highlighted the impact of manager Benitez, and hopes to see Newcastle play with passion in their upcoming fixtures.
