Do these past tweets from reported Rangers target Conor Hourihane put move to Ibrox in doubt?

Rangers are believed to want to bring Conor Hourihane to Ibrox next season, as Mark Warburton looks to build a squad capable of competing in the Scottish Premiership.

According to the Daily Mail, Barnsley midfielder Conor Hourihane is being lined up as a transfer target for Rangers.

Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side reportedly feel that Hourihane would be a good addition to their squad as they plan for life in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers’ promotion to the top flight was confirmed two weeks’ ago, and the Mail claim that they have £5 million to spend in the summer.

Hourihane is said to be one of the targets on their wishlist, but his past messages on Twitter may put a move in doubt.

Barnsley midfielder Hourihane would appear to have an affinity towards Celtic, rather than the Light Blues - which could mean that a switch is unlikely.

The deal is still a long way off anyway, but the Mail suggest that Hourihane is aware of Rangers’ interest.

Hourihane currently has a contract which will keep him at Barnsley until 2017, and it is believed that the League One side will demand a considerable fee for their key midfielder.

Hourihane has made 47 appearances for Barnsley this season, scoring 10 times.
