Britt Assombalonga has thanked supporters for their messages, after making his comeback for Nottingham Forest yesterday.
Assombalonga was introduced as a late substitute during Forest’s match against Blackburn Rovers.
The forward did not manage to hit the back of the net during his cameo, but he was given a rapturous ovation by the crowd at the City Ground.
And Assombalonga has taken to social media to thank the supporters in attendance for the welcome that they gave him.
Assombalonga had missed over 14 months’ worth of action prior to his introduction yesterday evening.
The 23-year-old is likely to be eased back into first-team action slowly, but his return will be a major boost.
Forest have struggled for goals this season, but Assombalonga’s return makes the Midlands side’s forward options look far stronger.
Assambalonga was unable to celebrate victory on his comeback, as Forest could only pick up a 1-1 draw with Blackburn.
Paul Williams’ side had taken the lead when Dexter Blackstock found the back of the net, but Danny Graham struck an equaliser for Rovers.
