Alan Shearer picks which of Leicester and Tottenham will win Premier League

Alan Shearer believes Leicester City will hold off Tottenham's challenge.

Former Premier League title winner Alan Shearer has explained he still believes Leicester City will win the title this season.

The Foxes entered the weekend seven points clear but have seen that advantage cut to five, after drawing with West Ham, while Tottenham beat Stoke 4-0.

To add the their setback, top scorer Jamie Vardy was sent off and could face a two game ban rather than one.

Shearer won the league with Blackburn Rovers in 1994/95, with his team themselves holding off a challenge from Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United, despite winning just two of their last six games

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live ahead of Newcastle United's game with Manchester City on Tuesday evening, Shearer explained he still believes Claudio Ranieri's side can make history.

He said: "I still think Leicester will have enough to win it. They have been absolutely magnificent.

"It could be the biggest and best story ever in football. It would be pretty embarrassing for bigger clubs spending vast amounts of money trying to do what they've done. I still think they can do it."

Leicester have a big game at home to Swansea City this weekend, whose form has been unpredictable. The Swans beat Chelsea a fortnight ago, but lost 3-0 to relegation battlers Newcastle United at the weekend.

A win will settle their nerves ahead of a final three game stretch against Manchester United, Everton, and Chelsea, and Monday evening proved that any slip up will have Tottenham only too ready to pounce.
