After watching Premier League leaders drop two points against West Ham United on Sunday, Kane uploaded a picture of a pack of preying lions on social media.
With Spurs - who were eight points behind the Foxes at the time, with a game in hand - considered to be City's main rivals for the title, it was suggested that the 22-year-old's photo was a metaphor for Tottenham's predatory instincts in the title race.
Those instincts looked justified on Monday as Mauricio Pochettino's men smashed Stoke City 4-0 at the Britannia to move five points behind Leicester, and Kane admits that his photo did indeed have an underlying message behind it.
"It was just a few lions ready to pounce," he said on Sky Sports. "After watching the Leicester game, they dropped a couple of points so I was itching to play. It [the picture] was just something I wanted to put out there, just a bit of fun."
Pochettino's side were truly devastating on Monday and if Leicester are to win, they will need to hold off what looks set to be a ferocious challenge from the North Londoners.
They host West Brom next Monday in what certainly should be another three points.
