This pre-season is vital for West Ham's Martin Samuelsen

The teenager could be a future West Ham United star.

Whatever happens in the remaining games of this season, there is no doubt West Ham United have enjoyed a superb campaign.

Manager Slaven Bilic has not only made some wonderful signings but he has got them playing consistently well while also getting the best out of the majority of the players he inherited.

More new additions are likely to arrive this summer and while the upcoming pre-season will be a huge one for everyone at West Ham there is one player in particular who could be facing a vital few months.

Martin Samuelsen signed for the Hammers just under a year ago and he impressed during his first pre-season at the club, standing out in the friendlies he was selected for.

After a few appearances in the Europa League, the young Norwegian was sent on loan to Peterborough United where he has excelled, but that does not mean he is guaranteed a place in West Ham’s first-team squad as early as next season.

Having spent some of this campaign in League One, Bilic may opt to send Samuelsen to a Championship club to continue his development; however, the teenager could change his boss’s mind with an impressive pre-season.

That is the time he can impress both his manager and his Hammers teammates and of all the players on West Ham’s books right now, Samuelsen may be the one with the most to gain from a great summer.
