Richard Keys says this Aston Villa man has his reputation intact

Aston Villa will play in the Championship next season.

Well-known sports presenter Richard Keys has written on his website that Eric Black is probably the only Aston Villa personnel who has come away from this season with his reputation intact.

Villa have had a horrible season and have already been relegated to the Championship.

The Villans started the campaign with Tim Sherwood as the manager, but the former Tottenham Hotspur boss was sacked in October 2015 following a run of poor results in the Premier League.

Remi Garde succeeded Sherwood as the Villa boss, but the Frenchman departed Villa Park in March after just after 147 days in charge.

Black was appointed the Villa manager until the end of the season following the exit of Garde, but the damage was already done.

In recent weeks, there have been accusations from fans and former Villa stars alike that the players have not tried hard enough, with club owner Randy Lerner also coming under criticism.

Former Sky Sports presenter Keys believes that Black is probably the only Villa man who still has his reputation intact.

“My view, for what it's worth, is this,” Keys wrote on his website. “Villa have been awful this season. Probably only Eric Black comes away with his reputation in tact.”

Villa will take on Southampton at Villa Park in the Premier League this weekend.
