Photo: Diafra Sakho back in training for West Ham; Emmanuel Emenike should be worried

West Ham United and Watford go head-to-head later this week.

West Ham United fans will no doubt be celebrating following the news that striker Diafra Sakho is back in training.

The Senegal international has missed much of the campaign with a series of injuries, meaning he has featured just 19 times in all competitions to date, scoring six times in the process.

A hamstring injury saw him miss 13 consecutive league matches beginning in December, and while he returned to action in early March another setback saw him sit out the recent games against Arsenal and Leicester City.

West Ham drew both those matches and with January signing Emmanuel Emenike struggling to make much impact at Upton Park, Sakho’s return is timely as the Hammers attempt to finish the season on a high.

A fully fit Sakho would excel playing regularly in front of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini; the problem is that has been a rare occurrence this season.

West Ham’s next match is against Watford on Wednesday evening and it will be interesting to see if manager Slaven Bilic selects Sakho in his squad for that encounter.
