The former Liverpool defender and assistant coach has been previewing the Merseyside derby.
Indeed, Thompson believes Liverpool can rest players at the weekend ahead of the Europa League. And, even then, Klopp has seen that his supporting cast are capable of producing.
There is considerable discord among Everton fans right now, meaning confidence will be with the red half of Merseyside going into Wednesday night's derby.
Thompson told Sky Sports: "It doesn't help Everton's chances that Klopp can afford to play his strongest side again and then rest them all at the weekend.
"He's also seen the players coming in can do a job from the performance at Bournemouth, so he's got plenty of options."
Klopp himself, of course, insists he won't be rotating his squad and resting his players.
But most managers use the official party line and do so anyway. After all, the Liverpool boss did rest players at the weekend - but, as Thompson suggests, the second-string side were more than good enough to win at Bournemouth.
The Toffees may well have all their focus on this weekend's FA Cup semi-final, however...
