Peter Lovenkrands posts message on Twitter ahead of Newcastle United's match against Manchester City

Newcastle United to due to take on Manchester City later this evening.

Peter Lovenkrands has encouraged Newcastle United on social media, ahead of their match against Manchester City later evening.

Newcastle host Manuel Pellegrini’s side knowing that a victory could take them out of the relegation zone.

However, picking up a win over City could be a tough test, as they have shown some good form of late.

The Citizens have not only got through to the semi-finals of the Champions League, but they also dismantled Chelsea in their latest Premier League outing.

City’s display at Stamford Bridge is a warning to Newcastle about what could happen if they fail to play to their best.

However, the Magpies also head into the game with confidence - having beaten Swansea City 3-0 in their last fixture - and Lovenkrands is confident that his former side have what it takes to pull off an upset.

“Come on Nufc another big game tonight,” Lovenkrands said. “Gonna be tough against a good team but with some confidence and momentum from the last game we can get something from the game!”

As things stand, Newcastle are three points adrift of 17th placed Norwich City.

After their match against Pellegrini’s side this evening, Newcastle will have just four games remaining in their league season. They come against Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur.
