Lescott was slated by Aston Villa fans after he suggested that their relegation would reduce the pressure on the side’s players, and allow them to put in some improved performances.
However, Pearce felt that whatever the central defender said would have led to criticism as they have been so poor this season.
“I think whatever comments are made by any of the Villa players at this moment in time won’t be construed particularly well,” Lescott said.
“They’ve had a horrific season and they were relegated months ago.”
Lescott has already risked the wrath of Villa fans with his comments on social media this season, and his latest statement has done little for his popularity.
The central defender now looks likely to leave the club in the summer, as they plan for life in the Championship.
Villa are expected to lose a number of their players in the next transfer window, as they have to cut costs without the funding of the Premier League.
Villa have won just three league matches this season, and their poor form has forced the club into making wholesale changes ahead of next season.
