Pochettino and Arteta playing alongside each other at PSG, earlier in their respective careers, and they remain close friends.
With Arteta now heading towards the twilight of his career, it has been suggested that he could move to Tottenham as a coach (London Evening Standard).
However, when quizzed on those rumours, Pochettino was coy about his plans.
“I love him and he loves me,” said the Spurs boss. “You know our history from Paris Saint-Germain, when he was 17 and I was the captain. We have a very good relationship. But the thing is rumours and you know I never speak about rumours.”
Arteta is currently still playing at Arsenal, but his role has diminished in importance this season.
The 34-year-old has been forced out of the team by the likes of Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny, and he has played just 13 times in all competitions this season.
Arteta’s chances at the Emirates are unlikely to become more frequent, and he is reaching an age where he needs to start thinking about the future.
Arteta has been tipped to be thinking about heading into coaching, and if he was to join Spurs he would move to White Hart Lane at an exciting time for the North London club.
