Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Mario Balotelli's comments

Reds supporters do not seem overly disappointed by the striker's comments.

Mario Balotelli confirmed on Monday that he does not intend on returning to parent club Liverpool this summer.

The Italy striker joined AC Milan - who sold him to the Reds for £16 million in August 2014 - on a season-long loan, but it has proven a testing campaign in San Siro which has resulted in just one league goal from 17 Serie A appearances - only five of which were starts.

He told Gazzetta Dello Sport: "In terms of my future I want to stay with Milan because I was not happy at Liverpool and don't want to go back.

"Plus, Milan have the money to buy me. I've played well in my last two games and there are six left for me to prove what I can do."

The 25-year-old's long-term future at Anfield was doubted after Jurgen Klopp replaced manager Brendan Rodgers - the man brought him to Merseyside - back in October.

Even Christian Benteke has struggled to win the German's affections as far as team selections go, meaning Balotelli is unlikely to feature heavily in Klopp's plans.

Indeed, Balotelli has certainly failed to justify the hype surrounding his signing 18 months back, and Liverpool fans were not overly saddened by the striker's latest revelation regarding his future.

The problem for Liverpool is whether Milan want to sign him on a permanent basis, and with a less than impressive goal return this season, CEO Adriano Galliani might well pass up the opportunity - and few could blame him.
