Liverpool legend John Aldridge has told 888sport that young winger Jordon Ibe has the talent to be an even bigger success than Raheem Sterling in the near future after a superb performance for the club on Sunday.
That was the 36th appearance of the season for the 20-year-old, who has begun to take on a much more prominent role at Anfield this season after a successful loan spell at Derby County last season.
Aldridge, who scored 63 goals in 104 games for the Reds in the late 1980s, revealed to 888sport that he has been a fan of the youngster for some time and believes he has all the talent to become even better that former Liverpool prodigy Sterling.
The 57-year-old said: "The manager has breathed life into the academy and given them a chance and they’ve done really well. Young [Sheyi] Ojo is a proper talent who has so much ability it’s frightening and I just hope it develops. He’s got a great chance.
"I’ve always been a Jordon Ibe fan and think he can be the next Raheem Sterling if not better. These past few months he has been off the pace but against Bournemouth he played well and if he can regain his confidence he can play for England."
Replicating Sterling's early-career success would certainly make Ibe a huge talent, with the 21-year-old Manchester City man having scored 34 goals in 171 senior club appearances already in his young career, as well as winning 20 caps for England.
Ibe, who has so far featured four times for the England Under-21s side, had been left out of the Liverpool squad in recent weeks, prompting reports that he and Klopp do not see eye to eye, but the German boss rubbished those claims after the winger's star display on Sunday.
Ibe will be hoping to keep his place at Anfield for the Merseyside derby against Everton on Wednesday night.
