Ian Wright names Sunderland's two standout performers against Norwich City

Sunderland beat Norwich City 2-0 in Premier League action at the weekend.

Ian Wright has told The Sun’s Goals Podcast that Sunderland two best players against Norwich City were Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini.

Sunderland picked up a vital 3-0 victory over Norwich at Carrow Road last Saturday, with both Borini and Defoe getting on the scoresheet.

The Italian international put the Black Cats in front from the penalty spot, before the experienced England international added a second on the slide.

And Wright said: “You could see the gameplan that Sunderland had. Sunderland were brilliant, Borini and Jermain Defoe in particular.”

It was down to Duncan Watmore to add a third for Sunderland, as they rounded off a comprehensive victory.

The Wearsiders have struggled in front of goal this season, but they were ruthless when it counted last weekend, and they have now given themselves a fighting chance of escaping the drop.

Sunderland are currently just one point adrift of safety, and they have a game in hand over Norwich, who occupy 17th place.

Sam Allardyce’s side’s next fixture comes against Arsenal on Sunday, and if they are able to avoid defeat they could make it out of the relegation zone.
