Lineker has affection for both former clubs Tottenham and Leicester.
The manner of the victory meant that no words were needed as Tottenham closed the gap on Leicester, but their raucous fans took pleasure in driving the point home all the same.
Tottenham's win meant they closed the gap on leaders Leicester to five points having entered the weekend seven behind, with the Foxes only managing to draw at home to West Ham.
The manner of the win will have left Leicester under no illusions... more mistakes will be capitalised on.
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker played for both teams, and responded to the chants directed at his hometown club, insisting he was just happy his side are in the position they are in, a totally unexpected scenario.
Spurs fans singing "Leicester City, we're coming for you." Just beautiful to hear Leicester mentioned in such a song.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) April 18, 2016
Lineker's posts in frustration at the referee who took charge of the Leicester v West Ham game at the weekend shows that his allegiance to Leicester remains strong and make no mistake, he would be gutted if they slipped up, but if he had to choose a team to take advantage, it would be Tottenham, a club he spent three seasons at and played more than 100 games for.
