Sunderland fans react on Twitter to Cattermole's performance against Norwich

Sunderland Gates

Sunderland and Norwich City went head-to-head this weekend.

Sunderland went into their Premier League clash against Norwich City on Saturday knowing they had to win, and they did just that in emphatic fashion.

Goals from Fabio Borini, Jermain Defoe and Duncan Watmore gave the Black Cats a 3-0 victory and pulled the Canaries right back into a relegation fight that looks like going to the wire.

While the goal-scorers took the plaudits there were a number of other superb performers for Sunderland with midfielder Lee Cattermole proving the doubters wrong with a great individual showing.

The 28-year-old is not everyone’s cup of tea but on Saturday he led his teammates admirably andif he had not been on the pitch things would not have gone as smoothly for Sam Allardyce’s side.

The win means Sunderland are now just a single point behind Norwich and with a game in hand they will be quietly confident of moving out of the bottom three sooner rather than later.

The problem is, Newcastle United’s win later the same day means it is two from three for the drop.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what Sunderland fans thought of Cattermole’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
