Report: Tottenham want Charlton striker Ademola Lookman, clause makes summer deal possible

Tottenham are reportedly leading the race for Charlton striker Ademola Lookman.

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Charlton teenager Ademola Lookman at the end of the season.

Spurs have enjoyed great success with the signing of Dele Alli, who arrived as a teenage from the Football League having impressed with Milton Keynes Dons - and it seems that Mauricio Pochettino could go to the same formula for another signing this summer.

The Daily Star report that Tottenham are keen to bring Ademola Lookman to the club, having shown great promise with Championship side Charlton Athletic this season.

Lookman, 18, was on the books with Waterloo FC before being snapped up by Charlton in 2014, but his incredible development for the club's Under-18's and Under-21's saw him fast-tracked into the Addicks' first team.

Four goals in 20 appearances have seen Lookman - who can play out wide or up front - earn plaudits, and Premier League clubs are circling thanks to a clause in a contract he signed back in February.

It's claimed that Lookman's deal at The Valley includes a clause where he can leave in the summer if Charlton are relegated to League One, which is imminent after Saturday's defeat to Derby County.

Now, Tottenham are believed to be at the front of the queue for Lookman's signature, with Pochettino looking to add even more young English talent to a superb nucleus of home grown talent, though Southampton are also credited with an interest.
