Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the free-scoring striker.
According to a report from the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Pescara striker Gianluca Lapadula on Friday evening and are willing to fight Barcelona for the player’s services this summer.
Both sides are said to have had representatives present as the 26-year-old scored his 22nd goal of the season in a 1-0 victory against AC Cesana, and given his recent record it is no surprise the great and the good of European football are being linked with his signature.
Lapadula has a contract with Pescara until the summer of 2019 but such has been his breakthrough this season that some tempting offers could be heading their way sooner rather than later.
Tottenham are seeking a new forward to act as back-up to Harry Kane, or potentially play alongside the young England international at times next season, and Lapadula certainly has the ability in front of goal to excel at White Hart Lane.
That said if Barcelona really are interested then Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may have to be at his sweet-talking best to convince the Italian to make the move to North London.
The report claims the player will cost around £6million if he does move on this summer and at that price he is well worth a punt.
