The midfield maestro has been in great form recently.
Leeds United picked up an impressive win against Reading last night at Elland Road.
Two goals from Chris Wood saw Leeds win a dramatic game 3-2 against the Berkshire side – with Toumani Diagouraga scoring their first goal of the game.
But while it was the New Zealand striker who stole many of the plaudits it was in fact midfielder Luke Murphy who was their best player on display once again.
The midfielder would have had reason to impress yesterday. Reading manager Brian McDermott actually recruited him for Leeds and Murphy would have wanted to remind his former boss of his talents. That he did with an energetic and controlled performance in the heart of Leeds’ midfield.
Murphy, just like last season, has improved as the campaign has entered the latter stages.
The former Crewe Alexandra star has excellent staying power and has once again fought his way back into the Leeds United starting XI.
With competition fierce in the heart of Leeds’ midfield Murphy has had to fight hard to keep himself in contention in recent times.
Yesterday’s performance will do him no harm.
Here is how Leeds fans reacted to Murphy’s performance…
2 goals for Wood and apparently Murphy played well. Has it occurred to anyone that Steve is a better Coach than you think? #lufc— Christopher Fisk (@chrisifisk) April 16, 2016
Great #lufc result and Murphy and Wood edged it for me. Enjoyable drive home— Paul Johnson (@topman7330) April 16, 2016
Good 2nd half display, delighted for wood for the goals and thought Murphy was great too. Onwards and upwards #lufc— Paul Hannan (@pistol1603) April 16, 2016
Murphy MOTM today by far, ironic McDermott's only real signing ran the game #lufc— CJ (@BazingaCJ) April 16, 2016
Just about deserved that win I'd say, Luke Murphy my man of the match #lufc— Simon Barter (@smarcbarter) April 16, 2016
