Liverpool and Bournemouth went head-to-head this weekend.
The England international scored what proved to be the match-winning goal for the Reds after Roberto Firmino had earlier put the visitors ahead.
Heading into injury-time at the end of the match Liverpool looked comfortable only for Josh King to find the net, meaning Sturridge’s earlier strike made the difference.
The forward has returned from a long-term injury lay-off and now looks back to his best, something Klopp himself acknowledged after the final whistle.
“Daniel was absolutely brilliant,” Klopp told liverpoolfc.com. “He was absolutely right in the decisive moments, like in the last few games because he has been involved in nearly all the goals we’ve scored in the last few weeks.”
There is no doubt that when fit and on form Sturridge is one of the best strikers in the country; the problem has always been his injury record.
But if Klopp can keep him fit for a whole campaign he could make the difference with the Reds desperate to be fighting for the Premier League title again next season.
