The former Newcastle United and Manchester City midfielder was impressed with the way Rangers played against Celtic in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The Gers won the game 5-4 on penalties after it finished 2-2 in extra time, with the Glasgow giants booking a place in the final of the prestigious cup competition.
Barton was following the match, and he was impressed with how the current Rangers team have improved and developed under manager Mark Warburton.
Great battle so far in the Old Firm. Rangers have come so far under Warburton. A young side full of adventure. Great to watch. #OldFirm— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) April 17, 2016
Warburton was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2015, and he has done a truly brilliant job at Ibrox.
Not only have the Gers won the Scottish Championship title with ease this season, but they have also won the Scottish Challenge Cup and have progressed to the final of the Scottish Cup.
Rangers are a very attacking side and are quite entertaining to watch, and Warburton should be given credit for the work he has done at the Glasgow giants so far.
