Preston's Bailey Wright wanted in China

Preston North End

HITC Sport understands the Socceroo star is in demand in the Far East

Preston North End defender Bailey Wright is set to be offered the chance to cash in and move to China’s financially powerful Super League. HITC Sport understands.

The likes of Alex Teixeira, Jackson Martinez, Ramires, Gervinho, Paulinho and Demba Ba have all completed big money transfers to China – but now Australian players are emerging as favourites, too.

Australia, in football terms, play in the Asian confederation and playing in China means a viable option to Europe has now emerged.

This season, six Australian internationals have already made the move including Tim Cahill, and Wright is now the latest to attract interest.

HITC Sport understands seven Super League clubs have made contact, including Sven Goran Eriksson’s Shanghai SIPG, and 23-year-old Wright, who featured at the 2014 World Cup finals, could quadruple his wages with a move to the Far East.

Wright has been one of Preston's top performers this season as they look set for a top-half finish under Simon Grayson and he would be loathed to lose him, but a big enough offer is likely to be accepted. However, it would remain to be seen whether the player would accept the move.
